336 Next Generation Cat Excavator

Hastings Deering received one of the world’s first Next Generation 36-tonne size class excavators from Caterpillar. Developed and manufactured in Japan, the Cat 336 arrived in Queensland last week.

The Cat 336 offers a unique combination of features, ultimately designed to maximise productivity at the lowest cost. The new excavators will see an increase in operating efficiency, lower fuel and maintenance costs, and comes equipped with a new cab designed to enhance operator performance.

Hastings Deering Sales Manager for Hydraulic Excavators, Brett Lenz, said the new 36-tonne excavator endures and enhances on the same character of the previous 300 Series excavators.

“The 336 Next Gen builds on the solid reputation of its predecessors. The new model continues the long tradition of productivity, efficiency and reliability… The 336 Next Gen platform has a proven DNA that will ensure our customers are more productive and efficient than ever before.

“With the same operating platform as the 320/323, this new release of the Cat Next Generation excavator series, sees improved operator efficiency’s through the integrated technology and industry leading fuel efficiency” Lenz said.

Cat Next Generation excavators by design consume less fuel than the models they are replacing. The 336FL has proven itself in the market as a productive and fuel efficient machine.

“The new 336 will deliver up to a 10% increase in fuel efficiency over the F Series, whilst not compromising on performance. This means our customers will get the lowest cost per unit of production machine on the market in its class” Lenz said.

To boost productivity, the new Cat 336 has the industry’s highest level of factory-equipped technology standard from factory which is designed to make sure the 336 sets the benchmark for safety, productivity and efficiency.

“This new platform has been built with the operator in mind. Features like 2D or 3D Cat GRADE, Cat Payload, E-Fencing,  GRADE Assist and the latest feature to be released, LIFT Assist, ensure the operator can be efficient by up to 45% over a standard machine” Lenz said.

The new Cat excavators do more work at a lower cost than before. By extending service and maintenance intervals, the Next Gen 336 reduces maintenance costs by up to 15 percent over the previous series. Integrated into the excavator are the new Cat air filters with a service life up to 1000 hours. Fitted with a pre-cleaner, and primary and secondary filters they double the dust holding capacity of the previous design.

In addition, the Cat 336 has a new cab designed to enhance operator performance. With a Deluxe Cab fitted as standard, they come equipped with standard features such as; keyless push-button start, large standard 10-inch touchscreen monitor with jog dial keys for control, and sound-suppressed rollover protective structure cab to offer the next level of operator comfort and safety.
Hastings Deering and Australia will see the release of this new model at the same time as the US and European markets. Meaning, Hastings Deering’s customers are amongst the first to get the latest global offering from Caterpillar.
